범죄자 ~ criminal

You’re probably wondering why this, of all words, is the word of the day, but there is a story!

This word became part of my vocabulary in connection to the “Embarrassing moments” discussion topic.
When I was about 4 years old, I managed to insult the tattoos of a 범죄자 standing in line just in front of me and my mum in the supermarket. Apparently I didn’t think it was very “neat” that he had “drawn” on his arms, and I voiced that opinion veeeery loudly – much to my mother’s chagrin.
Some would argue that wasn’t my most diplomatic moment…
